A very special holiday season is upon us. To celebrate Azura’s five-year anniversary this December, we decided to make this Xmas gift to our clients something to remember.

The idea was born from our passion for nature, food and artisanal art. We wanted to combine the practical with the beautiful and, after much consideration, we decided to make a cutting board that could also serve as a tapas serving dish.

We approached a local wood artist with the concept. Together, we selected the material: a typically Canadian maple and cherrywood mix. To represent our five years of growth, we added five walnut lines going from small to big. Slight variations of colour and pattern occurred here and there, and we like it this way! Each board is unique and entirely handmade.

At the same time, we ordered a custom branding iron with Azura’s logo. After much trial and error, we found a way to hot stamp each board.

The next step was to oil the boards. We selected a food-grade product based on beeswax and essential oils. The mixture gave the boards a new shine and a wonderful smell.

The end result gave us a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment. We hope this gift of appreciation serves our clients well for years to come!
